Turkish Young Academy Delegation in Beijing for International Science Council Meeting

The TÜBA delegation visited Selçuk Ünal, Ambassador of Türkiye to ChinaThe International Science Council (ISC), the umbrella organisation of which the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) is a member, held its 2026 Midterm Members’ Meeting in Beijing on 19–23 October 2026.

The TÜBA delegation consisted of TÜBA President Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker, TÜBA Member Prof. Dr. Ahmet Nuri Yurdusev, President of the Turkish Young Academy Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mürsel Doğrul, and Turkish Young Academy Executive Board Member Prof. Dr. Efe Can Gürcan. Ahead of the Members’ Meeting, the delegation also took part in the sessions of the Beijing Science Dialogue.

As part of the programme, the TÜBA delegation visited Selçuk Ünal, Ambassador of Türkiye to China.

The Turkish Young Academy delegation met with representatives of the ISC Early and Mid-Career Researcher (EMCR) Network. The delegation also held meetings with members and co-chairs of the Global Young Academy and took part in its events.

The delegation also held talks on possible cooperation for the World Science Forum, which will take place in Istanbul in 2027. On the first day of the programme, the World Science Forum Steering Committee also met in Beijing.

On 21 October, the TÜBA delegation met with Dr. Ni Zhiyu, Executive Secretary of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), and her team. The meeting covered exchange programmes for young scientists, support for young scientist activities, and possible cooperation with TÜBA and the Turkish Young Academy within the scope of the World Science Forum Istanbul.
