Mürsel Doğrul is an Associate Professor of International Relations and a faculty member at the Turkish National Defence University. His main research interests include security studies, international relations theory, Asia-Pacific geopolitics, economic security, energy politics, and science diplomacy. In 2013, he completed internships at the Ministry for European Union Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He graduated from the Department of International Relations at Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University in 2014 and conducted academic research in Romania and Spain during his undergraduate and graduate studies. He received his PhD from the Turkish National Defence University in 2021 with a dissertation entitled “The Middle East in Japanese Foreign Policy: The Political Economy of Energy.” He subsequently conducted postdoctoral research, including fieldwork and archival studies, at Meiji University and the University of Tokyo in Japan. In addition to his academic work, he provides specialized training on security studies, energy politics, and global risk analysis for various national and international organizations. Since 2019, he has represented the Turkish Young Academy at national and international platforms and contributes to science diplomacy initiatives as a member of TÜBA’s International Relations Working Group. He also represents Türkiye in international scientific networks, including the International Science Council (ISC), All European Academies (ALLEA), the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP), and the Global Young Academy (GYA). In November 2025, he was elected President of the Turkish Young Academy. He is married with one child and is fluent in English and proficient in Japanese.
