Assoc. Prof. Dr Sadiye VELİOĞLU

Board Member

Assoc. Prof. Sadiye Velioğlu completed her academic education at Istanbul Technical University (ITU), receiving her B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering in 2006, followed by her M.Sc. (2008) and Ph.D. (2015) degrees from the interdisciplinary Materials Science and Engineering program. During her doctoral studies, she served as a visiting student for six months (2013-2014) at Blaise Pascal University, France. Dr. Velioğlu pursued her postdoctoral research at ITU (2015-2016), NTU, Singapore (2016-2018), and Koç University (2018-2019). In 2019, she began her appointment as an Assis. Prof. at the Institute of Nanotechnology, Gebze Technical University (GTU), and received the Assoc. Prof. title in 2024. Dr. Velioğlu’s primary area of expertise is Membrane Technology, recognized as a modern gas separation technology. Through the MEM-CES research group she leads, she focuses on developing novel polymeric and nanocomposite membranes for energy and environmental applications, including carbon capture, natural gas separation, water treatment, and organic solvent nanofiltration. Her core mission is to deliver tangible, eco-friendly solutions that reduce industrial carbon footprints and ensure sustainable resource management. She has been actively involved in 7 projects (4 as Principal Investigator) (including TÜBİTAK 3501, 1001, 1071, YÖK 2023) and currently advises 8 graduate students. Her scientific contributions have been recognized with the prestigious TÜBA-GEBİP Award (2023), the ITU Best Doctoral Thesis Award (2015), and two International Best Poster Awards. The outcomes of her research at the intersection of membrane technology and nanotechnology include 42 international peer-reviewed publications, 2 patents, approximately 1700 citations, and an h-index of 22.
