Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet ACAR
Board MemberAssoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Acar completed his undergraduate studies at Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, Türkiye. He pursued his doctoral work at the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute in England, where he earned his PhD. He then conducted postdoctoral research in the fields of cellular and cancer biology at the University of Manchester and the Institute of Cancer Research in London. At the beginning of 2020, he returned to Türkiye and to METU to establish his own research group with the support of the TÜBİTAK International Fellowship for Outstanding Researchers Program. Dr. Acar’s laboratory focuses on understanding the mechanisms underlying drug resistance and developing tumor organoids based on a personalized medicine approach. Throughout his career, he has been honored with several awards, including the TÜSEB Incentive Award, TÜBA-GEBİP Award, MOKAD Young Researcher Award, Aydın Doğan Foundation Research Award, Parlar Foundation Research Incentive Award, and the TÜBİTAK Incentive Award.
